Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding is a restorative and cosmetic technique for making your tooth look better and your smile a lot more beautiful. It involves the application of tooth-colored resin to your tooth and the use of visible blue light to cure it. Cosmetic bonding can be used in many ways. It can:
- Alter the shape of the teeth
- Close gaps between teeth
- Eliminate discolorations
- Fix cavities
- Lengthen the teeth
- Protect a portion of the tooth’s root that has been exposed when gums recede.
- Repair chipped or cracked teeth
Serenity Dental takes pride in using high quality resin material to create natural-looking and functioning dental restorations. The results are incredible and lasting, and the procedure is relatively easy, relaxing, and pain-free.
Several factors affect the lifespan of your cosmetic bonding. It is still susceptible to loss of gloss and staining because of lifestyle and eating habits. Deterioration, however, is not noticeable especially when the bonded tooth is located towards the back of your mouth.
You can take care of your cosmetic bonding by simply doing what is necessary to maintain good oral health. Bonds last longer if your teeth are always clean. Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss at least once. Avoid frequent snacking in between meals.
Use mild toothpastes and soft-bristled toothbrushes. Harsh toothpastes can dull the luster on your bonding. They can also increase the risk of staining. Hard-bristled toothbrushes, on the other hand, can damage your teeth bonding just as easily.
Your cosmetic bonding is susceptible to fracture if it is on the biting edges of your tooth. Avoid biting into hard foods to keep it intact. Biting hard candies or even your fingernails can damage and negatively affect the quality of your bonding.
